Pucon Chile

Pucón is a small, picturesque and very pleasant city located right next to Lake Villarrica and at the foot of the live Villarrica Volcano. From here you can raft the rivers, enjoy a relaxing day in the hot springs, go skiing (in season) and experience many other outdoor activities.

ACCESS ROUTES
Pucon is located 789 Km south of Santiago and can be reached by road and air, through a transfer from Temuco Airport, which has frequent connections to Santiago.
ACCOMMODATION
There are several options in all kinds of classes of hotels and hostels in Pucon; the best hotel in Pucon is Hotel del Lago (in the center) and the beautiful Park Lake hotel.
WHEN TO GO
The best time to visit Pucon is in the dry season from November to April. The ski season is from mid July to mid September.

Excursions

Villarrica Volcano Trek:

This tour takes you over the slopes of the Villarrica Volcano, in the National Park of the same name, 18 kms south of Pucón. Between 1,000 and 1,300 mt. altitude you will cross coigüe and lenga forests and snow-covered lava fields. Local wildlife may be observed in these parts of the trip. You will then go up to the highest part of the trail where there are spectacular views of the Villarrica Lake and some of the majestic volcanoes of the Araucania Region.

Villarica Volcano Trek

Huife Thermal Baths and the Caburga Lake:

You will be collected from your hotel and drive towards the Cordillera, crossing the Pucón and Turbio Rivers. At the unspoilt Liucura Valley you will start ascending until reaching the Huife Thermal Bath complex with its coffee shop, restaurant, dressing rooms and two thermal swimming pools, one at 37ºC and the other at 44ºC. You shall return the same way and take a shortcut to Lake Caburga, where one can view the Quetropillán and Lanín Volcanoes. A short time later you arrive at Playa Negra on the Caburga Lake where there is free time for a walk. Later you return to Pucón visiting the 'Ojos del Caburga' waterfalls with their beautiful green and blue waters.

Skiing:

There is a new ski center near the village of Pucon which offers great skiing and snowboarding opportunities during season.
