The Noel Kemoff National Park is onne of South America 's most spectacular parks and hosts a range of animal and plant species unmatched almost anywhere else in the world. Amazonian forests, spectacular waterfalls and bizarre looking mountain ranges can all be founf within it. The park protects 7 different ecosystems, the highest number in any single protected area on earth. The park is located in the remote northeast corner of the country. Access is rather limited and complicated making it one of the last untouched areas on earth.
Day 1: Santa Cruz - Noel Kempff National Parks:
You start the trip in the morning with a transfer to the airport, our chartered flight will bring you to Flor de Oro on the Brazilian border. Along the route, we will fly over pristine forest area, highland plateaus and two impressive waterfalls. On arrival, we will continue by boat on the Itenez River to our first camp. Once settled in the camp you will have lunch and spend the afternoon exploring gallery forests and large expanses of savanna along the Itenez river. With a bit of luck you should be able to see Toucans, the White Woodpecker and a large variety of mammals such as the Coati Mundi and Silvery Marmoset. We will have diner at the camp.
Day 2: Noel Kempff National Park:
After breakfast, you will be guided through some pristine gallery forests en route to one of the bays located close to Flor de Oro, where motorized boats will be waiting to take you to the black waters of the local lakes and rivers. During the trip, you will have the opportunity to spot animals like the Tiger-Heron, Blue- and Yellow Macaw, Sun Bittern and with some luck a family of giant otters. We will return to our camp, have lunch and some time to relax. The afternoon will be spent traveling to Las Torres, a park protection station that gives access to a rocky outcrop, providing amazing views of the Caparú Plateau and the humid tropical rain forest found in the northern section of the park. Jaguars have been spotted more that five times along the river to Las Torres so you have to keep alert!.

This day offers you the opportunity to observe a great variety of fauna such as the Horned Sungem, Black and Tawny Seedeater, Red-necked Aracari, and the snow-capped Manakin. With some luck you should be able to spot Black Spider Monkeys and Tapirs. There are two options for this day:
A) Exploring the trails during the early morning hours and then returning to Flor de Oro in time for lunch. The late afternoon may be spent once again on the rivers looking for fresh water Dolphins, families of Giant Otters, or the endangered Black Caiman.
B) Hiking all the way to Lago Caiman (an old scientific research station), which provides access to Caparú Plateau. It is important to note that this is a long hike (10 ours in total) and can only be attempted by fit travelers. During the 1 our hike up the plateau, you will pass thought four different types of forest and eventually arrive at the Mirador de los Monos (Monkey Point), located on the ledge of the Caparú Plateau. It is Bolivia 's best-known protected area and one of the last untouched wildernesses on earth. Examples of animals one can encounter include the almost extinct spectacled bear, jaguars, capybaras, giant river otters, tapirs, and various species of monkeys. Over 700 species of birds have been identified here, including the endangered razor-billed curassow and blue-horned curassow.
