Cars pass the Oblisk on Avenida 9 de Julio

Buenos Aires is the most European feeling city in South America. A city of vast contradictions, it was once the beating heart of one of the worlds 10 wealthiest nations. More recently Argentina has suffered a hard economical hit and is still trying to get back on its feet, however this beautiful and culturally rich city continues to be a wonderful combination of sleek skyscrapers, ornate friezes with turn-of-the-last-century grandeur; at once ultrachic and tumbledown, up-to-date and firmly planted in the past. Even before the recent financial troubles, there was always a spirit of malaise in B.A., as it is affectionately known locally, which may help explain the devotion to that bittersweet expression of Argentine popular culture, the tango. Performed in the streets, on stages, in cafes, the sorrowful and romantic nature of the dance is integral to the city.

  • ACCESS ROUTES

Buenos Aires has an extremely efficient public transportation system that is as safe as it is reliable. It is comprised of a system of buses called colectivos, and a reasonably extensive metro system known as the subte. If you wish to travel by taxi it is recommendable that you only use radio taxis, or taxis that you call, rather than those that can be hailed in the street. You can always ask for a taxi at your hotel or for assistance from any of our representatives who will be happy to help you.

As capital of Argentina, the city is the major hub for all transport in the country. Major highways connect Buenos Aires with the North, East and South; frequent flights are available to all main cities within and various destinations outside of Argentina.

  • ACCOMMODATION
As can be expected, all hotel classes are widely represented in this cosmopolitan city, from hostels, to boutique and design buildings, to 5 star luxury hotels.
  • WHEN TO GO
Buenos Aires can be visited year round, but is perhaps best during the mild seasons of spring and fall, as January and February can be extremely hot and humid.
