Dear Argentina For Less
We had a great holiday and just about everything went like clockwork. Buenos Aires was very pleasant and we felt safe wandering around even at night.

Why travel to Iguazú
The splendor of the Iguazú Falls far exceeds its Guarani namesake – the title “Great Water” somehow doesn’t capture the true essence of this fantastic sight. Mist from the thundering water often cloaks the area in mystery, adding even more color to an already vibrant landscape in the form of rainbows in the billowing cataracts. This is surrounded by the natural grandeur of the subtropical jungle, resplendent with lush flora and fauna, including orchids, begonias, flocks of colorful parrots, toucans, cacique birds, and a cornucopia of butterflies. And a “big waterfall” it is indeed: the area is 1.68 miles wide, and encompasses 275 distinct falls, which cataract 65 feet farther down than those at Niagara.
The falls make up part of the border between Argentina and Brazil with the Paraguayan border lying not far to the west. Consequently, they can be seen from either the Brazilian or Argentine side. It is advisable to take a tour of the Iguazú Falls on both sides: the Argentinean side allows for astoundingly close experiences with the falls, while the Brazilian side gives incredible panoramic views.
The town of Puerto Iguazú is the most convenient entry point to the falls on the Argentine side of the border. Although it is a small town, Puerto Iguazú makes the perfect resting point for those going on an excursion to the falls, with plenty of lodging and dining opportunities at hand.
What to do in Iguazú
A UNESCO declared World Natural Heritage Site, the Iguazú Falls are undoubtedly the primary reason to visit Puerto Iguazú. Exploring the world famous complex system of the Iguazú Falls is a magnificent sight and has become one of the major attractions on the entire continent of South America. The sheer scale of the falls is what makes them so breathtaking. They are regularly compared to the Niagara Falls, though in fact the Iguazú Falls are four times wider than their North American counterpart and some of the waterfalls are even taller.
The Argentinean side of the Iguazú Falls contains about two-thirds of all of the waterfalls, and from the visitors’ center there are various trails and routes around the waterfall complex. It is also a fabulous place to go on hikes into the virgin rainforest, which is protected within the boundaries of national parks on both the Brazilian and Argentinean sides of the border.
Within the Iguazú National Park there are 450 types of birds, 80 types of mammals (including endangered species of jaguar and ocelot) and over 2,000 species of flora: a true nature lover’s paradise.
When to visit Iguazú
The Iguazú Falls and the surrounding region, including Puerto Iguazú, have no dry season and can be visited throughout the year in terms of climate, although the summer months between December and March can get really hot and humid.
The peak tourist season falls in the South American summer (December-February) and winter (July), thus resulting in larger crowds and higher prices. Ideally, one would want to experience this incredible destination around the months of May or September for a more tranquil experience.
Travel Testimonials
We finally returned! Sorry for the delay in responding but the trip to Iguazú Falls you planned for us was so fantastic we didn't want to leave South America.
The hotel you booked for us was exceptional. It was very quaint and comfortable. The staff made us feel like we were part of the family. The tour guide was very professional, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor which made it even more enjoyable. The whole trip went off without a hitch.

Many thanks for organizing my weekend in Iguazú. The Orchideas hotel was fine as were the guides on the Saturday (Hector) and on Sunday (Toto). I was surprised how few of the other tourists were English speaking...not being conversant in Spanish was certainly a handicap in Argentina!
Please find attached a selection of photos from my trip to Iguazú Falls (viewed from Argentinean & Brazilian sides) plus the bird park in Brazil.

Before I say anything else, I would really like to thank you deeply for setting up our tour at Iquazu Falls. It was great. Everything was wonderful. The transfers were right on time with no problems. The Hotel St. George that we stayed in was nice, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also as part of the tour package was the trip to Paraguay on our last day before going to the airport. This worked out perfectly. It was just what we wanted.
It was a wonderful trip and Iguazú Falls are amazing. What a sight.
